Great reproduction of 30s Soviet Smyslov chess set at less than half the cost of an original.
The Smyslov chess pieces are hard to come by. When they are available in their original form they cost anywhere from $1,000 on up and are more than 80 years old. This reproduced set has two queens per side and is new. I can't say how lovely they seem in person, they are even better than the pictures portray them as. I wanted a Smyslov set for years and what is better that's it NEW! What makes them so unique is their "inverted cone" type of styling opposite to nearly every chess set out there. They are right up there with my favorite styles of chess pieces!

I asked for a couple changes and extra queens, Kate included it all for no extra expense, wow, thank you. The set is absolutely beautiful, each piece is perfect, the colors are exactly as I imagined. I could not ask for anything else. The pieces are nicely weighted to be stable, but not overly so. The knights are incredible. Kate and her husband are artists, this set is gorgeous.

The Dealer was asked to make 2 extra Queens for a set she had made in the past. Since the original drawings had been lost due to the situation in Ukraine this was NO SMALL TASK! Not only was she able to make matching Queens for the original set, but was so concerned about matching the original Queens in the original set - that she sent 2 additional(1 in each color); just so the owner would have a matching set!!! The owner had no knowledge of this until both box & pieces arrived!! As a player & collector that has dealt with hundreds of Builder/Dealers all over the world - FOLKS THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN IN THE WORLD WE LIVE IN ANYMORE!!!! IF YOU WANT TO WORK WITH THE BEST OF THE BEST - THEN YOU HAVE FOUND YOUR CHESS DEALER!!!

The Admiral Nakhimov chess set is absolutely beautiful. The craftsmanship is exquisite. I own a variety of chess sets and this is by far my favorite. My set arrived earlier than expected adding to the pleasure of this experience. Kate and her husband are dealing with the war in Ukraine and I honestly don’t know how they produce such wonderful works of art. I will gladly order from them again if the situation arises (although Admiral Nakhimov may be my”forever set”). Thank you Kate. You are in my prayers…John
